CTE
Career Technical Education has a variety of exciting programs available to enhance the career pathway of our students!
Health Science
This is an introduction to the healthcare field which provides an excellent foundation in preparing or jump starting a career pathway in healthcare. Internship opportunities allow our students the ability to gain hands-on experience as a healthcare worker or for postsecondary healthcare education.
Industrial Maintenance
Introduces students to Basic Safety, Construction Math, and Hand/Power Tools. It also introduces the areas of Welding and Electrical Troubleshooting.
Automotive Services
Provides students with hands-on-skills regarding Safety, Engine Repair, and Automatic Transmission. Students will also learn foundational skills regarding Suspension, Steering & Brakes, Electrical Systems, and Components.
Work Based Learning
The Cooperative Education program provides great opportunities for students to work in a career field during their Junior or Senior Year in high school. Through our great partnerships with TSYS and CTV Beam, students have been able to gain industry experience and hands-on-training in their fields of interest.
Jobs for Alabama's Graduates (JAG)
Our JAG Program is an excellent platform for at-risk high school students which enables them to transition from school to a career by providing work-based learning experiences that will lead to future advancement opportunities.
Commerce & Information Technology
From Finance and Marketing to Computer Science, we have a variety of courses to introduce students to these growing industries. The Finance Program introduces students to the components of Accounting, Business Finance, Banking, & Financial Services. It teaches about the foundations of money.
Our Marketing Program is designed to provide students with an overview of in-dept concepts which provide tools necessary for the development, implementation, and management of promotional programs.
Students may also explore the world of Computer Science. Entrepreneurship, Web Design, & Business Technology are just a few of the courses available to enhance their computer skills.
Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps
The JROTC is an excellent program to prepare students for life after high school. Whether they are natural leaders or just love being of influence, this program helps our students develop the strong leadership skills needed for success.
Law, Public Safety, Corrections, & Security
Forensics & Criminal Investigations is just one of the exciting courses available in this program. In addition, students will be introduced to the Principles of Public Service & Police Patrol. The Emergency Services Program is also available through our Dual Enrollment partnerships with surrounding colleges.
Hospitality & Tourism
The courses in this program are an excellent foundation in teaching the elements of Hospitality & Tourism and the wonderful world of Culinary Arts. Students gain hands-on skills in learning how to prepare delicious foods and all the components of food safety while being trained to provide quality customer service.
Human Services
We understand the importance of making sure our students are well prepared for life after graduation. Our Human Services Program teaches life skills while educating our students on proper nutrition.
